NOT A REAL ESTATE BLOG BUT…

Yes I am a real estate agent so of course my blogs are all real estate sales topics but here during the holidays I want to discuss something different. At this time everybody (including me) is working on business plans, setting goals,re-evaluating budgets doing all the things we do to get a good jump on 2018! There are emails, trainers seminars (yes I have done some and gone to many) discussing what you need to do to increase business and you know what can easily happen? You lose YOU and work on a person you THINK you should because of the “stuff” you are reading, attending etc….NOTHING WRONG WITH IT BUT………

I believe it is easy to get caught up in being something you THINK you should be or OTHERS FEEL YOU SHOULD BE. For instance everything may be set up for you to do 100 transactions a year. Your coach is telling you that 100 deals a year should be YOUR goal. You believe you can do it. You are set up for it, but do YOU really want that. Do YOU really want whatever sacrificies (if any) it may take to get it? If the answer to that is yes then GO FOR IT. What if the answer to that though is no or I am not really sure?

In my opinion nothing can be more DISSATISYING than setting up goals, business plans etc… and not achieving them. It can be the most deflatiing, inner struggle one can have. Why is that? In my opinion its because its not YOUR goal or passion. Its what YOU THINK your goal and passion should be based upon OTHERS opinion. It takes a strong and mentally tough person not to follow his or hers own UNINFLUENCED mind. That includes loved ones, family etc… Remember in the real estate business our goals, plans, escrow closings are usually based on quarters meaning you are ALWAYS looking 60 to 90 days in advance, following profit and loss statements weekly. You know what that also does? It makes your time go faster, it makes your life go faster it keeps you from living and understanding the moment you are at today. Is this a bad thing? Well it depends. In my case I did not truly come to this understanding right away and then one day you look up regardless to your success and/or failures and time is passing by.

Enjoy life and your business. Take time with your family AND TAKE TIME FOR YOU, because if you attempting to do the right thing by family, clients. The person you are neglecting is YOU.1I7A8539_pp (Medium)
