Should You Wait Until 2015 To Buy a Home?
Many potential buyers don’t know what they may be missing out on by waiting.
As we near the end of 2014, we begin to think just how many things there are to do before we ring in the new year. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and/or Hanukkah. So many plans…who has time to think about buying a home?
BUT…Did you know that this time of year is one of the BEST times to consider buying a home?
And why is that?
More inventory, less competition.
As the holidays approach, much of your competition has decided to “wait it out” and hold off until after the new year to make a purchase. This leaves less buyers, and less competition, for available properties in your price range. Conversely, home sales tend to slow a bit beginning just after Halloween, meaning there is technically more inventory available for you to choose from.
Sellers may be a bit more willing to negotiate.
Many sellers are hoping to at least get into escrow before the end of the year. Even more may want to CLOSE escrow before the end of the year. This means that they may be more open to terms, conditions, or maybe even pricing when it comes to negotiating the sale.
YOU could be in your new home for the holidays!
If low interest rates haven’t motivated you enough to consider jumping into the market now, you might also consider the fact that you could possibly close escrow on a home before the end of the year. This not only means you’ll ring in the new year in your new place, but there may be potential tax benefits you can take advantage of THIS YEAR by closing escrow in 2014.
